Meet Jeannie

Why do I write? It’s a question I’ve pondered a lot. And I don’t have it completely figured out yet. Our personalities, gifts, interests, and God-given opportunities are so intertwined that it’s hard to determine exactly why we do things.

I think, really, that I write mainly because I love to communicate. Writing is a way to “speak” to many people that I’ll probably never meet in person.  It’s my desire to be an encourager to everyone I can — and I’m humbled that God allows me to touch so many people through writing.

I recently overheard someone ask another person, “What is something you are passionate about?”  I considered how I’d answer that question. I’ve been passionate about so many different things in my life — some important, some not — that I had to think for awhile! After a few weeks of meditation, I narrowed my real passion down to one thing:

Jesus.

Oh, there are plenty of other things vying for my attention (family, life on the farm, writing), lots of things I’m interested in (herbs, ice skating, graphic design) and even oodles of Very Worthwhile Pursuits (Crisis Pregnancy Center, Bible study, church activities). But these are all meaningless beside my relationship with Jesus. He is my true passion, and my heart’s desire is to glorify Him with my life. The other interests will come and go, and I’ll enjoy them for awhile, but Jesus will be my King through eternity!  Will you make Him your passion, too?
