In the power of Your life, and the pain of Your death,
Teach me to know You, who giveth me breath.
Teach me to fear You and call on Your name,
Your mercy and justice are always the same.
Your law is perfect, converting the soul—
More to be desired than silver and gold.
Oh! The depth of the wisdom and riches of God
His kindness is deep, and His mercy is broad.
In the power of Your life, and the pain of Your death,
Teach me to know You, who giveth me breath.
With all of my strength, and in every part
Teach me to serve you with all of my heart.
Teach me to consider my gain as my loss
Daily to kneel, and to take up my cross
With the talents you gave me, help me to be wise
So when a trumpet resounds in the skies
And I am judged for the race I have run
I’ll stand before God, and be told “Well done!”
So, with all of my strength, and in every part
Teach me to serve you with all of my heart.
