Here brief is the sighing…

Here brief is the sighing,
And brief is the crying,
For brief is the life!

The life there is endless,
The joy there is endless,
And ended the strife.

O country the fairest!
Our country the dearest—
We press toward thee

O Zion the golden!
Our eyes are still holden,
Thy light till we see.

We know not, we know not,
All human words show not
The joys we may reach.

The mansions are preparing,
The joys for our sharing,
The welcome for each.

“Dusty Bibles always lead to dirty lives. In fact, you are either in the Word and the Word is conforming you to the image of Jesus Christ, or you are in the world and the world is squeezing you into its mold.”
- Howard G. Hendricks

“The best use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.”
–William James

“Many people think that a ‘spiritual Christian’ is mystical, dreamy, impractical, and distant…[but] to be ‘spiritually minded’ simply means to look at earth from Heaven’s point of view. The spiritually minded believer makes his decisions on the basis of eternal values and not the passing fads of society.” -Warren Wiersbe

“My problems didn’t disappear when I became a Christian, but I no longer felt despair. My relationship with Jesus gave me hope and inner peace to withstand storms that blew my way.

“My friends noticed the dramatic change. ‘Why are you so happy?’ they asked. ‘Have you got a new man in your life?’

“‘As a matter of fact, I do,’ I answered, chuckling. ‘But not the kind you’re thinking of.’”

-Elissa Kaupisch, “Out of Despair”

Living for Jesus

Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do,
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement,
Didst give Thyself for me;

I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
O Christ, for Thee alone.

-C. Harold Lowden
