Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. –Proverbs 27:17
I’d like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me,
I’d like to be the help that you’ve been always glad to be,
I’d like to mean as much to you each minute of the day,
as you have meant, old friend of mine, to me along the way.

A real friend never makes unreasonable demands and he does not impose on you. He offers his suggestions but without attempting to change the way you do things. He takes pleasure and pride in your accomplishments, without envy. He always comes to you with a smile that fills your heart with pleasure. He becomes a part of all your dreams and hopes in life. He sympathizes when you are in trouble and is always on your side. And no matter what the problem is, he always understands. –Herb Walker
A friend loveth at all times… –Proverbs 17:17
A part of you has grown in me, together forever we shall be; never apart—maybe in distance, but not in heart
What made us friends? Perhaps the comfort of feeling safe, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring out to each other just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful, friendly hand will sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and blow the rest away. Our being friends was part of God’s plan.

Sent to us from above.
He listens to our sorrows
And soothes them with his love.
A father is a teacher
Whose place no one could take,
For he’s the source from which
We learn to think and navigate.
A father is a gift from God
From which we learn to be
Patient, strong and loving,
Filled with integrity.
-Byron P. Tousignant
Into a precious vessel God pours tenderness and love,
An understanding heart, and all the joy a child dreams of…
He gives her His compassion and a kindness like no other,
Then wraps her in His quiet strength, and gently calls her Mother.
-Bonnie Jensen
