Dear YLCF,
2010 was quite a year for our little family! Our first full year together as husband and wife had its many challenges, but many more blessings. Our first year with Cedar was full of wonder as we watched him grow and change so quickly from a newborn to a baby and now to a toddler. The Lord’s goodness has been evident throughout the year.
The year started out quite difficultly. Cedar was due to come in mid-January, but made his appearance on December 20, 2009, four weeks early. Though he was born at home, his prematurity caused some breathing issues and we spent four days with him in the NICU. The next six weeks or so were very hard, filled with nursing issues, dealing with jaundice, and being concerned over his weight gain. But everything ended up working out and weight gain has definitely not been an issue, as Cedar’s chubbiness now can attest to!
At the end of February, we moved into the cottage that Aaron had been building for the past eight months. After living in a 28-foot-long travel trailer since we had been married eleven months before, our 800-square-foot little house seemed so big! It was wonderful to have so much more counter space in the kitchen, and with a guest room (that also doubles as the library/office) we could finally have guests stay with us. Our little cottage is perfect for us and we love it…
And the beginning of September we found out some exciting news…we were expecting another little one, due to arrive at the end of April/beginning of May. We were and are obviously very delighted, but with that blessing comes much trusting as we deal with possibility of pregnancy complications similar to when I was pregnant with Cedar. So I’m learning to every moment place this baby in my Father’s hands and trust His goodness. And happily, I’m already past the halfway point of the pregnancy and everything is looking good!
With all that happened in 2010, we’re excitedly looking ahead to the new year and hope that you are as well. But in all that comes, I pray that, above all, we keep our eyes on Jesus…
In Him,
Jessica
