Yes, I know that sounds pretty drastic. But really, I didn’t expect spring to arrive quite so suddenly. You’d think that once we started having a couple warm days, there might be a few tentative shoots, a few sprigs, a faint flush of green in the lawn. I mean, at the beginning of this week, we still had a little snow in a few shady spots.
And now –
BAM!
There’s green grass to sit on. Actual leaves unfurling on the trees. Peepers to listen to. Sunburns acquired. Crocuses come, and gone. And daffodils which bloomed (I’m told) between lunch and sunset yesterday.
I know we do a lot of waiting for God in a lifetime, but honestly. It isn’t because He doesn’t know how to hurry.
I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.
And folks, that word hasten means “to hurry; figuratively to be eager with excitement or enjoyment.”
If He wills something, better believe it’ll come. And if He doesn’t, well, it isn’t for lack of enthusiasm. What He has planned, He is hastening. Behind the scenes, perhaps — but eagerly, hurriedly, and with enjoyment.
The vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end–it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Agreed! Here in St. Petersburg we had huge snow drifts that we feared would give way to flooding…I went away for the weekend, came back, and the snow was gone! Just a few days of puddles and currently the ground is visible, with grass beginning to grow and buds on the trees.
8:30 pm sunshine is always nice too.
Yes, seasons of life come like that too! What better reason to rejoice in the present day? Our lives can change in an INSTANT. Even when those changes are good, we might find ourselves wishing for a simpler time. He knows best!
Thanks for this post. I actually needed to be reminded of this. Sometimes I forget God still is working even amidst the driest and dullest of moments.
Haha welcome Autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere – Today was the fist day I really had to bundle up warm and wear layers!
This is neat =)
I sent this to my soon to be husband.. We’re waiting for a visa before we can get married, and well, it’s hard to remember sometimes that God is waiting for the perfect moment to unleash His plans, because He knows what will make the story more beautiful, NOT because He doesn’t quite know how to do it.. =)
Oh, and spring sure did come fast in Norway too =) =)

(girls from four countries commenting on spring/autumn, kind of neat)
When Spring sprang, it surely sprung! We had snow on the official first day of spring, but then spring popped up everywhere in the space of about 5 days.
Thank you for the reminder that God has His own time frame. When we think a thing should happen is not always the proper time for it.
It is wonderful to know that He is in control!
