The month of March is here. And we here at ylcf.org are celebrating March with a March of Books!
I’m celebrating, too, because our remodel is nearly finished, and we are moved into our bedrooms now. Which means my husband and I can turn in to bed and turn on the bedside lamps. It’s so fun to be able to read awhile together—perusing our own separate titles, reading aloud, or looking over the other’s shoulder—without keeping the girls awake!
I just finished reading Mother-Daughter Duet and Dancing with My Father (both of which you’ll have a chance to win this week). Then I got Creative Correction from the library, and Don’t Make Me Count to Three back from a friend I’d loaned it to. But last night I was too tired for parenting how-to’s, so I picked up a precious little book called A Promise Kept.

I just finished Spurgeon’ s Sorrows. Highly recommend. Now I’m reading Behold the King of Glory by Russ Ramsey and God’s Battle plan For the Mind: The Puritan Practice of Biblical Meditation by David Saxton.
I’m planning on posting two reviews a week on my blog, one of a non-fiction book and the other a fiction book. I’d love it if you stopped by!

I’m reading “If I Perish” by Esther Ahn Kim and “The Shunning” by Beverly Lewis. 🙂
I’m currently reading “David Copperfield”. My goal is to read all of Dickens’ works, and so far I’m up to 6. I think that “DC” will rank third for me behind “Bleak House” and “A Tale of Two Cities.”
The Bible, Streams in the Desert (it’s amazing!), and The Shepherd’s Castle by George MacDonald.
I absolutely love George MacDonald. My dad introduced me to his Victorian novels about five years ago and ever since then I’ve been hooked. Right now I’m reading Missional Renaissance by Reggie McNeal with my church family and I will soon finish Return of the King (JRR Tolkiens 3rd installment in the Lord Of the Rings trilogy) Then I hope to move onto some classics like Jane Eyre and The Count of Monte Cristo.
I’m in the midst of reading the biography of Amy Carmichael called, “A Chance to Die” witten by Elisabeth Elliot. EE is one of my favorite authors! I also just started “So Much More” by Anna Sofia and Elisabeth Botkin.
Let’s see – I’m reading several books right now, some more slowly than others. I’m reading “Christian Disciplines” by Oswald Chambers, “All Loves Excelling” by John Bunyan, and a there’s several I intend to read soon!
I’m going to love March, here at YLCF, with much talk of books! 🙂
I’m currently reading “My Journey to Lhasa”, by Alexandra David-Neel, (I’m fascinated with Tibet), and “Three Friends of God”, by Frances Bevan, a very old book of my grandfather’s. Only a little ways into both, but they are very good, so far! (And very diverse in content, I might add!)
Lately I’ve been reading, “America: The Last Best Hope” by William J. Bennett, “Prayer: Asking and Receiving” by John R. Rice, and “Mind Siege” by Tim LaHaye. All of them are REALLY good, and I would highly recommend them!

I’m discovering the treasure of Puritan writings – I’m currently working my way through “The Religious Affections”, by Jonathan Edwards, and “The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment”, by Jeremiah Burroughs.
Although written in the 17th and 18th centuries, these books are strikingly relevant to our Christian lives today, and are worth the extra effort it may take to read them!
I am currently reading Anne of Windy Poplars, the fourth Anne book. I love it! The perfect book for the green winter days in Southern California. My husband and I are set to start reading Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry, today. Next, I have The Time-Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England, which is a social history that looks fascinating and fun. And after that, I have Discipline: The Glad Surrender by Elisabeth Elliot. I’m hoping it will help me to be more disciplined! I am so excited about Book March. This is going to be fun! Watch out, library!
“Number the Stars” is one of my all-time favorites. I read it when I was pretty young and it really contributed to my interest in WWII.
There are many books that I’m either in the middle of or about to read, but the only one I’m actively reading right now is The Way of The Wilderking. It’s written for young adults, but it’s well enough written to be fun for everyone, and I’m really enjoying it.
I need to back to reading my history of the Romanov dynasty soon, too…
I’m reading That Printer of Udell’s by Harold Bell Wright. So far it’s a really good book and I love it!
I read that book last year and it was a great read!
