Links, values, and a thank you

If you’ve been clicking around on ylcf.org much lately, you’ve probably noticed that things are continually changing. I think I finally have all of our pages switched over to the new look (except for “the archives”-of the YLCF Journal and New Attitude-and they’re going to stay that way!). Despite the laborious copying and pasting and coding, it was exciting to see it all take shape, as each page got a makeover with the new YLCF “do.” But that’s just the beginning of what’s new!

Check out the Fellowship page: not only can you Connect with YLCF readers via Google Friend Connect, but if you’re a Twitter user you can follow YLCF’s Tweets and join the YLCF Twitter Twibe, too. (And if you are a Tweeter be sure to read Josh Harris’ post about the Twitter Flu!)

When we brought back the Bookshelf, we asked where you like to buy books online. And we really were listening! You can now support the YLCF through your shopping at Abe Books, Alibris, and The Book Depository-as well as through Amazon, Christian Book Distributors, and Powell’s Books. We’ll keep the most popular bookstores’ search boxes in the sidebar on every page-but look for the rest of the store searches on the Bookshelf page, as well as in the sidebar on all blog posts in the “Books” category!

If you hadn’t noticed, the Team Members are adding their favorite links to our Links page. Be sure to keep checking back for their recommended sites.

Speaking of links, if you notice broken ones here on ylcf.org, please let me know! If I don’t know about it, I can’t fix it. And in the same vein, if you’re browsing the net and find a website link that really belongs somewhere in the pages of YLCF, please write and tell us! Everything from the Personality pages to the Got Curl section is here as a resource for you-and you can help make them better resources by passing on links (and notifying us of dead links).

The YLCF has always been for as well as by young ladies. Thanks for helping us keep it that way by sharing your suggestions and comments. We so appreciate you, dear readers. Your letters are our encouragement to “keep on.”

Now before you go look around to see all the new stuff on ylcf.org, I want to point you to the page with the new contents I’m most excited about: our “About” page! With all the “external” changes you’ve seen around YLCF in the past few months, we’ve been experiencing an internal renewing of our vision and focus, as well…

We’re excited to present to you our mission statement and values. Not only do they define what YLCF stands for and promotes-they explain why we are here, what and who we write for. A special thank you to Lanier for all her work in bringing our thoughts to clarity while listening to Heavenly guidance.

And finally, I’d like to offer a great big thank you to the team behind the team-an engineer in Georgia, a Marine in California, and a farmer in Washington. Lanier, Ashleigh, and I can’t begin to express our thanks to our husbands Philip, John, and Merritt for their inestimable love and support in all we do here at YLCF. We couldn’t do it without them standing behind us. Thank you.

Oh, the new site looks so pretty! I’ve been reading via my blog feed reader but decided to stop by today and it looks really beautiful. :) Kudos to all the hard-at-work people!

Just wanted to say that everything looks great!

And also, I don’t comment much, but I have been a faithful YLCF reader for about 7 years! I first found it when I was 15, and it has “been there” through my teen years, courtship, marriage (We got married a couple weeks apart, Gretchen!) and new babies. Wow, just realized that it’s actually been that long! I have been blessed by this site, and encouraged.

I feel in many ways, like some of you are my friends. Thank you, Gretchen, especially, and the whole YLCF team for keeping this great resource going!

I love the way you’ve re-done the look of ylcf. It looks great! Thank you for all the hours of work you put into it. I love reading this blog, and feel like I know the writers. You all do a wonderful job, and I want you to know this has been a real ministry. God bless!
