Married Valentines, part II

Monday evening felt like an early Valentine’s Day.

Snuggled up on the couch with my husband. Eating homemade bread pudding and Denali Moose Tracks ice cream. Watching a romantic movie. Forgetting about the dishes that needed done.

It was an evening for falling in love all over again.

We didn’t plan it. In fact, our little girl was so tired and fussy the first part of the movie, I didn’t know if I would even get to sit down before the evening was over.

But it was one of those special gifts from God. One every married couple should look for, and pray for.

Family Life Today has been featuring a message from pastor and author Joshua Harris the past three days, as a prelude to Valentine’s Day. In Wednesday’s broadcast, he brought up a great point:

The Bible commands us not to be drunk with wine; but it does command us to be drunk with the Holy Spirit and intoxicated with our spouse.

Josh reminds wives that we were made beautiful for one man, our husband. If we want to guard our marriages, we should strive to dress and act with modesty and purity. If we want to protect our husbands, he says: Invite your husband’s intoxication.

The entire three-part message is a great listen for married couples (audio and transcripts available at familylife.com). Take an hour together to listen to Josh Harris’ refreshing reminders about the God-ordained, God-blessed beauty of sex in marriage.

Thanks Gretchen. I read over some of what Joshua Harris said, and it is so true to not only stay pure before marriage, but to maintain that purity inside of marriage. Very good post.
    thanks,
    a fellow believer
