Lanier,
Thank you for the lovely post. I've missed hearing from you. Your writing and imagery is so beautiful! And your thoughts so relevant! Please keep sharing your heart with us.

You also might enjoy knowing that your post about Miss Potter inspired four sisters to rent the film. And how we enjoyed it! Actually our English recording engineer recommended it to us first, but we didn't know if he really understood what movies girls like! We should always remember to thank God for those special moments of encouragment and inspiration He drops into our lives!
Sarah Rae B.
www.whisperingroses.net

My brain knows this but it always seems difficult to convince my heart. Thank-you for the reminder. It is so easy to compare ourselves or de-value ourselves in the gifts God has given to each of us. He truly has made us uniquely special and yet we so easily forget that. Blessings to all.

-Kristina

I like this too. I've actually been thinking of hosting something similar for a few friends. I've never been to a tea party and would greatly appreciate ideas and pictures! I'd like to make this really special without spending a lot of money. I'm creative in the baking and decorating departments so I know I can do it, I just need to know what to shoot for. :-) Do you have any more pictures from this event? Do any of you other girls have pictures of ideas?

Erica
urka84 @ gmail.com (without the spaces) :-)

Thank you so much for your post. I tend to look with longing at my friends who are the watercolor brushes and need to be reminded that God made me unique and for His purpose. Four-inch flat brushes are perfect for painting barnyard fences. :)

Robin

I found this article most insightful and timely. I have printed it off to share with several people. As an artist myself, I am constantly trying to find the balance between busy wife and motherhood, and making time for creative expression. I believe that when God created us in His image, he passed on to us the ability and in some of us, a strong drive to create. This post was encouraging to me and very thought provoking. Thanks again.

Lanier,

That was such a beautiful post! I just turned 18 yesterday, and was contemplating my role in life, exactly how I am to acheive my place as a good daugher, sister and friend to all those I know. I keep comparing myself to others, thinking that they have much more capabilities and talents than I. I have concluded that I should not compare their talents to my talents, as my talents are different. Also, seemingly in this world where bigger is better, people have lost the sense of the watercolor paintbrush, and how vitally important it is, adding to the little details of everyday life. If more people would "stop and smell the roses", and actually take the time to soak in every little magnificient detail of beauty that mirrors God, I think the world would be much more balanced and peaceful. What I mean by balanced, is that every person will be doing what they were meant to do; the big rollers to provide an overall painting base, and the details to add to the work. I am a watercolor paintbrush, and I will remind myself, more often, that I am not to paint the the side of the building, as I will only become more and more frustrated. I will stick to exactly what I was designed for, for the little details. Thanks again for sharing your friend's analogy! God bless...

Mmmm. I love the analogy you gave of the paintbrushes. To me, that is a perfect illustration of the gifts God entrusts with each of us.
And God has gifted you with a beautiful way of writing!

Thank you so much or sharing that!
There are so many times that I get depressed, and then begin to compare my self with others. The truth of the matter is that God has given me a different job than many of my friends and I need to rejoice in it instead of complaining. Thank you so much for that reminder!

Becca
