My Family

What were some of the unforgettable memories with your family during the holidays? For me, one of the best parts was getting to finally spend time with my soon to be sister Jenny. Previous meetings had been either during the frenzy of my wedding or very brief; getting to spend more than four days watching her and Taylor convinced me (as if I hadn’t been before!) that they are oh-so-perfect for each other. Seeing how our family has grown in just the last year is awesome to me.
For those of you who still have most/all of your siblings living at home, even if you don’t feel it as strongly, savor every single day. Once everyone starts going to college, getting married, beginning a career, whatever, times where the entire family can be together grow more infrequent. The next time I will see everyone in one place will be either Taylor’s college graduation on May 3 or their wedding on the 17th. That’s a long time from now.

Do not ever be ashamed of showing your family how much you love them in the ways that you know they appreciate, as well as the ways you want to. For example, my youngest brother might enjoy talking music with me more than getting hugged and kissed but he’ll allow the latter because for me not to would be like trying to stop breathing.

Hope your weekends are lovely–spend time with your families if you can. I will see mine in two weeks (parents and youngest brother who is still at home) and next weekend I have the YLCF retreat so life is definitely blessed.

    What a beautiful picture!

I’m the oldest of 8 and the only one not living at home. (they are in KY, I’m in TX) I get to see them a few times a year, but for short periods of time. In December my dad’s company paid for all his employees to go to FL the week before Christmas. Because we do their design and print work, and we’re family, they paid for us to go too. My dad’s parents, brother, and sister and their families live down there so we had a big family reunion! I hadn’t seen my grandparents in about 6 years! Talk about a special time! We had a blast and everyone got to meet my wonderful husband and our son, Gabriel. I’ll soooo thankful for every moment of it!

I can definitely empathize with having a hard time finding a time when everyone can be together! With 5 older siblings then I in college, working, or married, plus a younger sisters and 7 nieces and nephews, we make a big crowd when we get together, and it’s becoming more rare that we’re all together at once. But, I cherish the times we get to spend with each of them. It’s been hard to be one of the younger ones and see them leave one-by-one, but I’ve been so blessed to have the family that I do!
