I read the news these days and just want to cry. In Jerusalem, you can feel the tension in the air. You could even back in March–and back then none of us had any idea what was coming. Israel declaring war on Lebanon? Nazareth and Capernaum have both been hit by katyushas. Residents of the coastal plain from Tel Aviv up to Haifa have been told that they need to stay close to buildings and be prepared to take shelter immediately upon hearing a 60-second warning by air raid siren.
When I was there, it seemed one of the most peaceful spots on earth (aside from the old land mines barricaded by barbed wire…and the tanks…and the soldiers with rifles). But….how I love that land. The land blessed with the coming of the Prince of Peace…the land where more battles and wars have been fought than any other place on earth–in all of history.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122).

I know… I’m watching too. Sometimes I wonder what on earth Israel is doing. I’m probably watching more from Lebanon out as I wanted to go on a Beirut missions trip in January and a close friend of mine did go. I have had quite an interest since then. Having a lot to do with Muslims also, I find it like walking a tightrope. I love them. I also love Israel. I pray for wisdom!
I meditated on that Psalm 122 verse this morning in my quiet time!!
Keep raising up prayer for all of us in the Middle East! It’s getting intense… Thousands of Muslims are demonstrating on the streets here.
Lots of love,

Yes! pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

To reassure somewhat, a girl I know just got back from Israel at the end of last week, and she said the atmosphere there really wasn’t that bad. She says we should compare the news reports to American news reports – things sound terrible, but in reality they aren’t as bad. I imagine that the Gaza strip and southern Lebanon aren’t having a very pleasant time of it, however.
I will definitely be praying still.
Thanks girls…you’ve pretty much already said what I wanted to. Pray for all the people there – for Christians on both sides to remain strong in their faith, and for those who don’t know Jesus to get to know Him. There’s no time like the present!
