Invitation to Israel

The tour my dad is leading to Israel in March is going to be life-changing. And since we have two (2) spaces left on the tour, I thought I would see if any of you readers wanted to join us on the adventure of a lifetime. Not only would I have the privilege of meeting you, but we’ll be seeing Elisabeth Adams as well, when we visit Jerusalem! Exciting, no? Since there are just two spaces left, Dad said I can post the notice here for you friends. I hope two of you want to join us!!
Dates: March 15-26, 2006
Departure from: Chicago
Cost: $2950 (which, I might add, is $500-1000 cheaper than any other tour you’ll find because we booked this a year ago before the gas prices went sky high)

A message from my dad:
“I have had the privilege of traveling to over 30 countries of the world, but I can assure you that there is no land as fascinating, inspiring, and spiritually uplifting as Israel–the land of the Bible!

“Imagine yourself walking on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus performed the majority of His ministry. Imagine yourself climbing on the fallen walls of Jericho or standing on Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Imagine yourself exploring Qumran where they discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls and floating in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Imagine yourself standing on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem where Solomon’s magnificent temple once stood. Imagine yourself strolling through the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was arrested and taken for trial. This will be the perfect time of year to visit Israel with the desert flowers in full bloom.”

Everytime I read the above I get excited all over again! I still cannot believe that I have been so blessed as to have an opportunity to finally fulfill my dream of seeing the Holy Land. Ever since my parents led their last tour before the conflict began about 8 years ago, I’ve dreamed of when I could join them. My dad and I put together a list of things I wanted to do before I marry, and guess what? This is the last thing on the list…the item I never truly hoped could be accomplished. Our God is a good and wonderful Father who gives good gifts to His children!

Some of the things we’re going to see (there is more but I didn’t type them all up) include:
March 17: Caesarea Roman theater, harbor, newly excavated hippodrome, palace, aqueducts. Mount Carmel and Megiddo, Sea of Galilee, the Jezreel Valley, Mount Tabor, Nazareth, and stay at Tiberias
18: Sea of Galilee on a fishing boat, Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, the baptismal site on the Jordan River
19: Hazor, Dan, the northernmost point in Israel, Banias Waterfall, Golan Heights (border with Syria and Lebanon)
20: Spring of Harod where Gideon chose 300 men, Jordan Valley, Jericho, end at the Dead Sea
21: Masada (Herod’s palace in the wilderness), En Gedi, Dead Sea
22: Qumran, Dead Sea Scrolls, Judean Wilderness, Mount of Olives, Jerusalem (Eastern Gate, Garden of Gethsemane, Herodian Jerusalem model, Yad Vashem (Holocaust memorial))
23: Tample Mount, Southern steps, Wailing wall, City of David, Pools of Siloam, Rabbinical Tunnel
24: Upper Room, Old City, Hezekiah’s city wall, Elah Valley (battle of David and Goliath), and Beth Shemesh
25: St. Stephen’s Gate, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, ANtonio’s Fortress, Bethlehem (if it’s still safe), Garden Tomb, Jaffa (Joppa), and Pools of Bethsaida

And we happen to have one of the most knowledgeable and amazing tour guides alive today: a Palestinian walking encyclopedia who is one of the only people I know who is more knowledgeable than my dad about the Bible. I am hoping to purchase some kind of digital voice recorder because I’m going to want to remember everything he says–this man is tops.

Boy! Would I sure love to go!! :o )That’s been my dream for several years now. To think that you could stand in the Garden of Gethsemane, and recount the story of Christ’s agony. Realizing, with growing admiration and awe (with no little amount of sorrow), that within the very same garden our precious Savior sweated drops of blood so many years before…or gaze at the Sea of Galilee, the very same sea that our Savior met Peter, James and John, and performed so many miracles. How about Jericho, or Capernaum?? Wow!…obviously, I could go on and on. :o )

    Longingly,
    Chelsea

I trust God richly blesses the trip and all of you who go on it! It is a wonderful, wonderful land. Spending time there certainly makes the stories and truths of the Bible so vivid and real. Well worth every bit of money and time!

I wish I could go. But I could advertise almost as well for the country I live in. Come to Turkey and I can show you the worlds oldest, still worshipped at,church site, the theater where Paul preached, the seven churches cities ruins, the present churches in some of those cities, the wonderful old monosteries from the 400s…I’m content.

It’s wonderful to be able to be proud of our dads. I was just thinking of all the knowledge he could recite if he were to give the tour guide I mentioned above. He has an amazing knowledge of the Bible and of history.
