It’s not that I spent money on myself today. Except for a $1 mocha (very necessary today), and $4.50 worth of books (which at the local senior center translates into 9 hardbacks, most of them antique!), I didn’t spend a dime.
But it was therauptic just to wander the aisles, admiring the cute picture frames and pink and red heart-shaped decorations, reading the romantic Valentine cards.
And it’s always fun to try on clothes, even if you don’t buy a thing. Whether laughing at how hideous it looks, or going, “So that’s why those girls look like that!” I always walk away happier with my own wardrobe choices.
I’m a people watcher, too. My trips to town find me imagining what the lives of those I walk past must be like. It always makes me realize how much I have to be thankful for.
Going to the dentist without being lectured on flossing or being told I had a cavity was another thing to make me count my blessings. Not to mention that our dentist works on the teeth of most of my local extended family, and was telling me how blessed I am to have such a wonderful, godly family. He shared how he’s praying that each generation of his own family will grow closer to the Lord. What a testimony.
The sun even shone in my windows as I drove today! So put it on cruise control and sang with Martina McBride “I am so blessed!”
Edited to Add: I came home from church this evening to find a voice mail message from my man. A long talk with him topped off my already lovely day! I am so blessed!

Good choice of music.
And guys wonder how “shopping” can be a hobby …
What a delightful sounding day!
) Browsing and people watching…sounds like what I enjoy doing.
Those “sunny” type days come at just the right times!

People watching… sigh, that’s one of my favorite pastimes. Sounds like you had a wonderful day. (Where in the world do you get a $1 mocha?!)
thats similar to my day at town today when i was doin a spot of shoppin. It sounds like you savoured every moment hope you had lots ov fun.
Costco is the only place in the world I’ve found a $1 mocha. It’s not like Starbucks, but it’s better than bitter black coffee.
Duh? Why didn’t I think of Costco? Thanks. I do like their mochas.
