Frumpy Fashion

“We need not be frumpy to be godly.”

A friend of mine made this observation recently, when we were discussing the frumpy stage we’d all gone through, while attempting to follow the conservative trends and the peer pressure of the homeschool movement.

We called it modest, but it was frumpy.

We said we wanted to stand out, but in fact we were responding to peer pressure.

The truth is, you don’t have to be frumpy to be godly!

I’ve learned more and more lately about how important it is to look good for the man in my life. I am a reflection on him. I want him to be proud to have me by his side. I want to look cute for him, not frumpy.

In the same way, what we wear is to be a reflection of Christ. We don’t want the world to equate the word “Christ” with frumpiness. We need to look our best for our man and our Lord.

As you do your spring cleaning this year, analyze your closet’s contents while thinking through a man’s eyes. Ask yourself honestly, is this modest, or is it just frumpy?

Today I’m celebrating my freedom from jumpers, my freedom in Christ. Because I believe it is possible to be both fashionable and modest.

I’m easily ten years your senior & finally came to the same conclusion about 3 years ago. I’ve never been into jumpers, but Calio was my middle name for a long time.
    Good for you! :)
